Pedro Freitas is a Post-Doctoral Research Associate at the What Works Hub for Global Education.
He holds a PhD in economics from Nova School of Business and Economics (SBE). His research focuses on Economics of Education and Human Capital, addressing issues such as teacher quality, teacher labour markets, standardised and teacher assessment, students’ aspirations, or students’ migration flows.
He participated in several policy-oriented projects on topics such as the forecast of teacher shortages, socioeconomic based achievement measures or policies to recover from the learning losses after the Covid-19 pandemic.
He was a visiting research student in Department of Economics at University College London (UCL) and a researcher in the Economics Department at Banco de Portugal. He is an external affiliated member of the Nova SBE Economics of Education Knowledge Center. He was previously a Teaching Assistant and Lecturer of undergraduate and Master’s courses, such as Economics of Education, Seminar in European Economics, International Economics and Intermediate and Advanced Macroeconomics.
