Becky Hatch is Director of Policy & Partnerships for the What Works Hub for Global Education, at the Blavatnik School of Government, University of Oxford. The What Works Hub for Global Education is a joint initiative supported by the UK’s Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), World Bank, UNICEF, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and the British Council. The Hub brings together government partners with academic and global education partners to enable and improve foundational literacy and numeracy at scale, for children in low- and middle-income countries.
Prior to joining the School, Becky held senior roles in local government, leading strategy, policy, performance and communications, as well as managing the Leader’s Office for a London Borough. She worked in the UK Civil Service for over a decade, working as a senior policy adviser in the Cabinet Office’s Social Exclusion Task Force and Energy and Climate Change Strategy Directorate and as Head of Performance in the Prime Minister’s Implementation Unit. She has also worked internationally to build policy, strategy and advocacy capacity within civil society organisations and governments in Asia and Africa.
Becky holds an MA in English from Cambridge University.
