Simon Gervas is the British Council Country Convenor for the What Works Hub for Global Education in Tanzania. The British Council plays a crucial role in the Hub, acting as a facilitator and convenor, bringing together stakeholders to support and strengthen the data, evidence, and research ecosystem in country.
Simon has been working in the education sector for over nine years, with a particular focus on: inclusive quality education, literacy programmes, early childhood development (ECD), child protection, and youth and economic empowerment in Tanzania. Prior to joining the What Works Hub for Global Education, Simon worked for various international non-governmental organisations (INGOs) including Plan International where he worked as the Technical Lead – Education serving as the education technical advisor responsible for providing technical support on inclusive quality education; Save the Children as Programme Coordinator supporting the implementation of quality inclusive education and early childhood development (ECD); and Room to Read as the Senior Literacy Program Associate supporting and managing a literacy programme which focusing on improving literacy skills and reading habits among primary school children in Tanzania.
