Mihaela Leonte

Project Officer

Mihaela (pronounced Mi-hæ-eh-læ) Leonte is the Project Officer for the What Works Hub for Global Education at the Blavatnik School of Government, University of Oxford – a joint initiative supported by the UK’s Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), World Bank, UNICEF, USAID, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and the British Council. The Hub brings together academics, NGOs and government partners to enable and enhance learning for children in low- and middle-income countries. Mihaela provides operational support for project delivery.

Before her tenure at the Blavatnik School of Government, Mihaela honed her skills in operations management as the Laboratory Logistics Manager for the Aggressive Infection Related East Africa Lymphoma (Ai-Real) Study within the Oncology Department at the University of Oxford. Her role involved overseeing seamless operations and negotiating contracts to ensure organizational efficiency within laboratories in Tanzania and Uganda, pivotal locations for the Ai-Real Study.

Mihaela also led the registration and establishment of the first Specialised Haemato-Oncology Clinic, SerenOx Africa, in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. This endeavour saw her relocate for six months in Tanzania.

Mihaela has been working with the University of Oxford for eight years within the Academic Segment, in various capacities, including Course Administrator for the MSc in Precision Cancer Medicine or as a Development Officer.

Mihaela holds a BSc in Kinesiotherapy and Special Motricity from the Ecological University, in Bucharest, Romania.
