How can Tanzania effectively implement new teacher training and support approaches?
Home > What we do > Countries >Tanzania

Country overview

Despite the urgency of boosting teacher effectiveness, there is limited evidence on successful teacher training programmes in the Global South. The Tanzania context provides a unique opportunity to generate relevant evidence on strategies to increase teacher effectiveness. Firstly, Tanzania is currently rolling out a new curriculum targeting more effective student-centred learning. Secondly, the government is implementing a two-pronged in-service teacher training programme.

Effective implementation will be crucial to ensure these initiatives succeed. Therefore, the What Works Hub for Global Education seeks to explore how to maximise the take-up of the curriculum and the effectiveness of the support structures teachers will rely on as they deliver it.
