Nikunj Agarwal is the British Council Country Convenor for the What Works Hub for Global Education in India. The British Council plays a crucial role in the Hub, acting as a facilitator and convenor, bringing together stakeholders to support and strengthen the data, evidence, and research ecosystem in country.
Nikunj began his journey in public policy as a Teach for India fellow, where he taught 97 students in a government school classroom in New Delhi. He later worked with the Department of Education on systemic education transformation at the University of Chicago Trust, where he also worked with the Government of India’s think tank: Niti Aayog on enabling women entrepreneurship, and with SEWA Bharat on labour rights and digital solutions for informal sector women workers. Nikunj holds a master’s degree in public policy from the Blavatnik School of Government, University of Oxford. Nikunj has also worked with G20 EMPOWER to accelerate women’s leadership and economic representation in the private sector across G20 nations during India’s presidency. Nikunj also hosts a public policy community and podcast called Postcards. He remains deeply committed to working at the intersection of people, policy, and politics, guided by the belief that ‘It takes a village to raise a child.’
