Doreen Christopher Samuel holds a Bachelor’s degree in Education (Economics and Mathematics), and a Master’s degree in Economics, both from Mzumbe University in Tanzania. She currently serves as a Curriculum Developer at the Tanzania Institute of Education (TIE). With over four years of experience, she specialises in curriculum design and the development of instructional materials, including textbooks and educational modules across various educational levels. She facilitates in-service training for practising teachers and college tutors. In her role, she also coordinates education programmes, such as the World Bank-funded BOOST initiative and national teaching skills competitions.
Doreen is a What Works Hub for Global Education Fellow through TIE’s Educational Laboratory (TIE-EdLab), where she is actively engaged in research focused on enhancing teachers’ continuous professional development (TCPD) in Tanzania. Her work is grounded in evidence-based policymaking and aims to strengthen education systems through practical and data-driven approaches.
Passionate about educational technology, Doreen is committed to leveraging learning management systems (LMS) to improve teachers’ pedagogical practices and student learning outcomes. Her research interests lie in improving the quality and equity of education by refining TCPD models and exploring the transformative potential of digital tools in teacher development. Through her contributions in curriculum development, research and teacher training, Doreen strives to make a meaningful and lasting impact on Tanzania’s education sector.
