Wayne Sandholtz
Wayne Sandholtz is an economist and Assistant Professor at the Nova School of Business and Economics, where he is a resident member of the NOVAFRICA research center. His research studies how to improve education and other public services in low- and middle-income countries, and the political economy that determines whether effective reforms are adopted and sustained — with the aim of turning rigorous evidence into better education policy and practice. Using randomized controlled trials, quasi-experimental methods, and large administrative and survey datasets, he examines questions central to the global education agenda, including school access, learning outcomes, and the design and delivery of schooling. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of California, San Diego, and is an affiliate of J-PAL, Innovations for Poverty Action, IZA, and the CESifo Research Network, and a recipient of the Jacobs Foundation Research Fellowship.
