Sharnic Djaker

Research Scientist

Sharnic Djaker is a Research Scientist at the What Works Hub for Global Education at the Blavatnik School of Government and an Associate Member of St Antony’s College. His research centers on persuasion and information design, exploring how carefully crafted informational interventions influence decision-making and behaviour. Drawing on his training in psychology and economics, Sharnic examines how the strategic allocation and framing of information – grounded in Bayesian persuasion principles – affects decision-making across various contexts. His current work applies these insights to education, focusing on how tailored information can guide students, teachers and policymakers to improve learning outcomes in disadvantaged settings. At the What Works Hub for Global Education, Sharnic serves as a co-Principal Investigator, collaborating with the Academic Director to design and scale research studies using A/B testing and adaptive experimental approaches.

Sharnic holds a PhD in Applied Psychology with a concentration in Economics from New York University (NYU), where he also earned an MPhil. He also holds a BSc in Economics from Shiv Nadar University and a Master’s from University College London (UCL). Before his doctoral studies, he was a Research Associate at J-PAL South Asia. He has consulted for organisations such as the World Bank, the Jacobs Foundation, J-PAL South Asia and the International Institute of Impact Evaluation (3ie), contributing to research on education systems, learning losses and behavioural responses to information.
