Aneth Komba is a Senior Lecturer and Director General of the Tanzania Institute of Education (TIE). She holds Bachelor of Science (Education) (Hons) and a Master of Arts (Education) from the University of Dar es Salaam. Aneth graduated with a PhD from the University of Bath (UK) in 2010, specialised in Educational Leadership, Management and Policy Studies. Aneth lectures in various courses related to educational policies and qualitative research methodology. She participated on a number of national and international research projects including the Research Programme Consortium on Implementing Educational Quality in Low Income Countries (EdQual), Pedagogy and Leadership Project (PAL) in Tanzania, Research in Improving Systems of Education (RISE) in Tanzania and Assessing the scale-up of a technology-supported, government-led teacher professional development programme in Tanzania: Considering issues of equity, agency, and adaptation.
Dr Komba through her position as the Director General of the Tanzania Institute of Education coordinated successfully the process of the 6th Major Curriculum Reform in Tanzania which ran from April 2021 to November 2023. Her research interests includes: educational policies; educational leadership, teacher training, education of young children; school curriculum for basic and secondary education, education financing; families’ resources and children’s schooling; equity and equality in education; qualitative research methodologies; social capital and children’s schooling; and educational policy planning, management and administration.
