Maroof Syed

President and CEO, Centre for Economic Research in Pakistan (CERP)

Maroof A. Syed is the President and CEO of the Centre for Economic Research in Pakistan (CERP). With over 25 years of entrepreneurship, investment, and leadership experience, Maroof integrates public policy, economics, and engineering expertise. His specialties include evidence-based governance, data analytics, decision sciences, political economy, adaptive leadership, and the role of innovation in economic development.  

Previously, Maroof held senior management roles at Broadcom Corporation, Texas Instruments and Intel Corporation. He co-founded the Karnybo Group, investing in late-stage tech startups such as Tesla, Twitter, Facebook, Jawbone, Square, and Palantir.  

Maroof received the 2017 Lucius N. Littauer Award from the Harvard Kennedy School. He serves on the boards of the Pakistan Innovation Foundation, African Development University ILIMI Foundation, and Public Interest Law Association of Pakistan. He is also a Charter Member of the Organization of Pakistani Entrepreneurs of North America in Boston (OPEN-Boston).  

 Maroof holds a degree in Computer Systems Engineering from Rensselaer and a Master in Public Administration from Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government.
