Marla Spivack 

Economist, World Bank Group

Marla Spivack is an Economist in the World Bank Group’s Education Global Practice. She leads programmes providing technical assistance to governments to improve foundational learning outcomes and supports education projects in East Asia and the Pacific. She is particularly interested in the application of systems thinking and implementation science in improving education service delivery and learning outcomes. She has also worked on social protection in Latin America and the Caribbean. Previously, she led research synthesis and engagement for The Research on Improving Systems of Education Programme (RISE) and held an appointment as a Research Fellow with the Building State Capability Program at Harvard University. She has also worked on social protection, monitoring and evaluation, and microcredit programmes in India, Mexico, and Zambia. Marla holds a Master’s degree in Public Administration in International Development (MPA/ID) from the Harvard Kennedy School and a BA in Economics from Tufts University.
