Laura Savage

Executive Director, International Education Funders Group

Laura started her career working with Malawi’s Ministry of Education as they were in the sixth year of designing their first sector plan. Happily, the plan was signed and ‘implementation’ could start; Laura worked first on the donor group, then embedded within the Ministry’s planning department, and then as a PhD researcher unpacking the politics of ownership (today’s localisation) as data from schools trickled back in. Laura has always tried to tackle any disconnect between policy and implementation by asking ‘how and why?’, working on a massive results-based sector programme for AusAID in Bangladesh and for several years with the FCDO education research team (including early design of the What Works Hub for Global Education). She is now Executive Director of the International Education Funders Group.
