Sabarish Shankar

Research and Policy Officer

Sabarish Shankar is a Research and Policy Officer at the What Works Hub for Global Education. His role involves supporting in-country engagements, conducting evidence synthesis, and working closely with a unique community of practice. He is passionate about contributing towards bridging the gap between research and practice, and exploring means to integrate research into existing M&E efforts of government and education non-profits.

Previously, Sabarish was as a research professional at Development Innovation Lab at the University of Chicago. There, he supported the lab’s education and health related randomised trial projects in India, Kenya, and Uganda. Additionally, he contributed to the impact evaluation of the Weiss Fund for Research in Development Economics; and provided research assistance towards a chapter handbook on Conditional Cash Transfer.

Sabarish holds a Master’s degree in Public Policy with certificates in Data Analytics and Survey Research Methodology from the University of Chicago, as a JN Tata Scholar. During his academic tenure, he also served as the President of the Education Policy Student Association. Prior to his post-graduate studies, he was a Teach for India fellow, teaching Mathematics and English to 6th and 7th-grade students in Chennai.
